Critical Shortages Of Veterinarians In Public Health Practice |
|
| |
There is a critical shortage of veterinarians in public health
practice areas such as food safety and security , bioterrorism and emergency
preparedness, environmental health , regulatory medicine , diagnostic
laboratory medicine, food systems veterinary medicine and biomedical research .
These critical shortages in the US can only be addressed by the US congress.
The US Senator Wayne Allard ( R- CO) and Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D-WI )
have jointly introduced the Veterinary Public Health Workforce Expansion Act of
2007 ( S.746/ H.R.1232) in the US senate and the US House of representatives.
It is a realistic solution to address the critical shortages of public health
veterinarians . Apparently, the 2500 new veterinary graduates every year are
not enough to meet the challenges of a growing population and public health
needs of society. This important legislation would certainly fulfill the needs
of the growing population . ( Federal Veterinarian-April 2007) |

Employment opportunities for foreign Veterinarians |

a foreign veterinarian should be qualified by the Educational Commission for

want to go through this process, he can take admission in any veterinary
college in the US and complete Master's program. .After graduating from the
veterinary college, he can work as a veterinarian in the state and federal meat
